We are extremely happy to announce that our OuiPlease Homme V1.5 box will be including products from the French brand specializing in self-care – Malou & Marius. With dedication, sustainability, and progression at its core, this brand is making its claim in the market and bringing innovating skin care products to France and beyond. We were able to ask their team some questions about the brand, to give you a taste of what kind of companies make up the products in your OuiPlease boxes.
What was the inspiration behind the brand?
“Malou & Marius is above all a family story. We created this brand as a couple, and Malou & Marius are the names of two of our children. Several inspirations are at the origin of Malou & Marius. It was in Hong Kong that we discovered face masks, a really popular skincare routine in Asia. People use them every day just as we use a moisturizer. We wanted to establish our own natural masks in France, so we searched for a laboratory capable of supporting us in our creation. Our masks are made in Brittany, a region where there is a lot of seaweed, which is an essential ingredient in the composition of our products. Our range has now been expanded with a complete facial offer: masks, creams, lotions, and more. Overall, we are also sensitive to ecology and strive to develop ecologically responsible products to give to our consumers.”
What is one unique brand quality that American customers should know?
“Our products are made in France, and so there are strict standards that we have to follow when we manufacture our products. These standards entail a great deal of seriousness, more so than in America, by which we are obliged to follow. Also, all Malou & Marius products have a little touch of second-degree humor that the French are very fond of.”
What is your favorite product and why?
“I love the face masks because it’s a nomadic product that you can easily take everywhere. It is especially an effective skin care product, as the perfect adhesion of the mask allows the ingredients to penetrate deep in the skin. The effect of the mask is immediate. Finally, during the 20 minutes of time spent wearing the mask, you are able to enjoy a real moment of rest and relaxation.”
What is your biggest challenge as a brand?
“The most difficult challenge is to find our place in this vast market of cosmetics. There are so many giants next to us. Our ambition is to continue to expand our distribution in points of sale in France but also abroad. Our dream would be to capture chain stores in different countries. Another challenge is also to find new products to extend our range with the most natural and respectful ingredients possible to offer to man and nature. Finally, our last conflict is actually to continue to manufacture in France, because the manufacturing costs are higher than in most other places.”
What was your companies biggest achievement?
“Since Malou & Marius began, we are extremely proud to have been referenced at Merci, a very established concept store in Paris, France. We will also be present in 10 Spring stores as soon as the school year starts. It’s a real joy.”
