How You Can Help Geneses Women’s Shelter 

During February’s huge winter storm in Texas, Genesis Women’s Shelter experienced several issues stemming from the power outages. After losing power for several days, a pipe burst from the freezing temperatures. The roof caved in, which caused extensive damages from both the water and falling debris. For the first time ever, Genesis had to be completely shut down due to both the damage from the pipes and the extended total power outage. All residents had to be temporarily relocated to safe locations. 

Genesis Woman’s Shelter after the pipe bursts 

On Feb. 21, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised Genesis Women’s Shelter with a life-saving donation! Through their nonprofit, the Archewell Foundation, they supported Genesis by replacing the roof and by helping to meet their immediate needs after the crisis. This support allowed Genesis to reopen the shelter and the women and children were able to move back in. The impact that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had on the shelter was immense.
