Classic French 75 Cocktail
The French 75 is a cocktail to remember. It’s light and aromatic, and has the most amazing balance of Champagne, dry gin and lemon juice. The ratio is perfect! You can be super authentic by using French gin, like Citadelle, and French Champagne, like Veuve Clicquot. It has to be a Champagne you’d enjoy drinking on its own!
- ¾ ounce simple syrup
- ¾ freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1½ ounces dry gin
- 2 ounces Champagne, chilled
- Lemon peel for garnish
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the simple syrup, lemon juice, and gin.
- Add the ice and shake to chill.
- Strain into a Champagne flute.
- Top with the Champagne, stirring briefly.
- Garnish with a lemon peel.
The 1789 was created in honor of the year the Bastille was stormed. How much more French can you get?! This cocktail is filled with classic French ingredients such as Bonal Quina, which is a French apéritif wine, and Lillet Blanc, a French aromatized wine. Make it 100% French by even choosing a French whiskey, such as Bastille whiskey.
- ½ ounce Bonal Quina
- ½ ounce Lillet Blanc
- 1½ ounces whiskey
- Orange peel for garnish
- Chill a martini glass.
- In a mixing glass, combine the Bonal Quina, Lillet Blanc, and whiskey.
- Add the ice and stir to chill.
- Strain into the chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with an orange peel.
