THE FRENCH CONNECTION
Inspired by Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, this fizzy, romantic cocktail is perfectly suited to Francophiles who would love to experience the intellectual glamour of 1920s Paris. Flapper dress optional.
Ingredients
2 oz. cognac
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
3.4 oz. simple syrup
4 fresh raspberries
Sparkling wine
Instructions
Combine all ingredients except for wine in a cocktail shaker, and shake well. Strain the mixture through a fine-meshed sieve into a glass filled with fresh ice. Top with sparkling wine.
THE FRENCH BLONDE
Refresh your palette on a hot day with this sweet, citrusy concoction. We imagine serving the bright, sophisticated cocktail to friends at a summer dinner party hosted at the ultra-exclusive chez-toi.
Ingredients
½ oz. elderflower liqueur such as St. Germain
1 oz. dry gin
2 oz. Lillet Blanc
2 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
A dash of lemon bitters
Instructions
Put all ingredients into an ice-filled cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds then strain into a martini glass.
TREMBLEMENT DE TERRE
If you’re looking for a cocktail that’s intense and historically rooted, look no further. This recipe is adapted from a sharp drink served at parties by the infamous French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
Ingredients
2 ½ oz. cognac
¼ oz. absinthe
Instructions
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, stir together cognac and absinthe. Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass then garnish with a lemon twist.
