Our upcoming box is all about turning a fresh page in the OuiPlease story. Not only is it a new volume, but we’ve got new brands on board and a new theme as well! For Volume 2, we’re departing from the theme of French regions, and exploring what it means to be French.
We did some thinking, and one very French quality we settled on was living “la vie en rose.” This term, translated as “life through rose-colored glasses,” describes that tender feeling of falling in love. However, even if you aren’t falling in love with someone, there are a million other ways to foster this emotion of love and joy everyday.
If you’re having a bad day, or even if your day is moving too quickly, do as the French do:
Slow down, indulge yourself, and appreciate all of the lovely things around you.
Commit yourself to this simple approach, and in no time, you’ll be living la vie en rose!
Easier said than done, right? Try these three steps first – they work every time!
Buy yourself flowers: Why wait for someone else to do it for you? Fragrant flowers are a plus, but buy any blooms that make you happy. Place them on your bedside table to end and begin your day on a beautiful note. Voila!
Read a book: Not a magazine, not an online article (though we’re glad you’re here!), but an actual flesh-and-blood book. Whether you’re reading a novel to escape, or pouring over a biography of Marie Antoinette, we promise you’ll benefit from a little uninterrupted me-time.
Take a walk: Everyone has feelings of stress or hopelessness sometimes, but don’t wallow in them! Get up, take the dog for a walk and shake those feelings off. As you walk, stay engaged in your surroundings. Interesting architecture, the smell of fresh bread from the boulangerie – this is what la vie en rose is all about!
