Pantone Inspired Style Guide
Freshen up your closet this season by splashing a bit of color into your wardrobe. Pantone has released their Fashion Color Trend Report for Spring/Summer 2020, providing a list of the trendiest colors to be seen on the runways and on the streets. This season’s trend reporters are focusing on expressing a, “desire for a sense of the familiar,” striving to mix up a batch of colors that scream confidence, relatability and modernity. A mixture of bold statement colors with a couple of basic neutrals, check out some of the upcoming season’s essential color trends.
Of the 12 colorful classics the trend reported this year, here are five of the most standout colors – and how to style them – that radiate that sense of Parisian confidence you are striving for.
Pantone 15-5718 Biscay Green
Green can be a difficult color to wear, especially if this isn’t a color normally found in your closet. Try it out by starting simple, yet funky, by picking up a pair of statement earrings, or a standout sweater. A plain white summer dress can be taken up a notch by throwing on some bold accessories, letting your jewelry do the talking for you. Biscay Green was mixed with the intent to cool and refresh, so head over to OuiCook, find the recipe for a Blood Orange French 75, and show off your newfound style while beating the heat with this cool aqua green shade.
Pantone 11-4001 Brilliant White
In the same manner that every woman should own a little black dress, having crisp white basics are other closet must-haves. A white dress, a clean white staple tee, a stylish pair of white platform sneakers, or a cropped white denim jacket all add a soft hint of cohesion to any outfit. Hone back in on simpler days by adding this pristine white color as a contrast to dark denim bottoms, keeping the outfit modest and clean.
Pantone 17-4021 Faded Denim
Denim is not only reserved for the winter and fall months! This muted yet bold color stands out for the suave charm it adds to your outfit and can be worn all year around. Dependable and trustworthy, throw on your trusty pair of denim baby blues when you’re going for a more casual yet put together look. If you’re tired of, and too warm to wear, that old pair of skinny jeans in the back of your closet, opt for a light wash pair of straight legged jeans that you can pair with an easy silky top. Don’t be afraid to mix textures and go for the casually refined look the French have mastered so well.
Pantone 18-1662 Flame Scarlet
Summertime is going to be hot, hot, hot, and so is this color! Vibrant and effervescent, this is the color you throw on when you are looking to make a statement. Go for a lightweight jacket in Flame Scarlet to throw over yourself when the summer nights get a little bit cooler and you still want your outfit to be the talk of the night. If a full-on jacket is too much for you, choose to just give a little taste of this bright color by throwing your hair up and loosely adorning your look with a scarlet hair scarf.
Pantone 14-1064 Saffron
Yellow is definitely a color associated with the bright happiness that accompanies the sunny spring and summery months. Mixed with golden and orange undertones, Saffron is the perfect muted yellowy tone to add a bit of flavor to your fit. Give into the playfulness of this color by opting for a platform sandal with saffron straps to really tie your outfit all together. Aiming to contribute a little bit of brilliance to your color palette, this color with brighten your day and immediately transport you to daydreams of beach days on the shores of Saint-Tropez.
