Practicing Self-Love on Valentine’s Day
I believe that Valentine’s day is one of the most decisive holidays ever. You may adore the whole day with the romance, the roses, and the love that the day represents. Or you may feel suffocated by the day’s cheesy heart-shaped jewelry and teddy bears for a silly hallmark holiday. Whichever side you are on, I believe that it is always important to set some time aside for yourself. No matter your romantic status, try out going on a date with yourself! Here are some of my favorite things to do to show myself some love.
1. Self-Care.
This is a no-brainer for me. Draw yourself a big bubble bath grab that yummy bottle of wine you splurged on. This is a perfect time to show your body and skin (inside and out) how much you appreciate them. I like to do a hair mask at the same time as a face mask to really get the most out of this time. OuiPlease Tip: When shopping for a mask always lean towards hydrating, oxygenating, or moisturizing masks. Other masks such as clay masks are all too often too harsh for your skin (and many times have other harsh chemicals). Its better safe than sorry!
2. Dress up!
I always feel my absolute best when I have a new outfit on that I know I look great in. It does not have to be the most fancy gown, as long as you feel confident. One of my favorite parts of date night is dressing up and feeling fabulous! Take yourself on a date to your favorite cafe, bookshop, or anywhere that makes you happy.
3. Get YOURSELF a promise ring.
This is one of my favorite ideas going on right now. Traditionally, a promise ring is given to their loved one to represent that they promise to love you forever. It is a token of love, commitment, and appreciation for your significant other. But, these sentiments are also SO important for your own self-love! Every time you get a glimpse of your beautiful ring, you are reminded of your own love, commitment, and appreciation to you and your body. These rings are often worn on the pinky or on the right ring finger!

4. Update your space.
I believe that your home should be your sanctuary. It’s where you go when you feel happy, sad, upset, motivated, fearful, or anything else. Take it from Kim Kardashian who says of her home “Everything in the outside world is so chaotic. I like to come into a place and immediately feel the calmness.” Her house is absolutely gorgeous, but is minimalist to the EXTREME. Your house should reflect who you are on the inside and give you that same sense of peace. It may be that you fill your space with lively plants, have motivational posters everywhere, or whatever else you may need. Give yourself a break from the world and revamp your interior.

5. Watch *that* movie.
Everyone has a different feel good rom-com movie. You may be embarrassed by your pick, or maybe you have already told EVERYONE you know to watch it…several times. What ever that movie is for you is the perfect movie for you to watch. No one is around to judge you! So grab your Blue-Ray box set of Twilight from it’s hiding place and enjoy. Need some suggestions? These are some of the OuiPlease’s staff picks, including our favorite French rom-com called Jeux D’enfants.
